1. Sponsor. The sponsor of The Gigabit Genius Grants contest (“Contest”) is Philly Startup Leaders (“PSL”), 259 S. 21st Street Suite 2, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
2. Eligibility. The Contest is open to legal U.S. residents 18 or over as of the date of entry. Officers, employees, agents and affiliates of PSL and their immediate family members are not eligible to enter.
3. How to Enter. No purchase or contribution necessary to enter or win. A purchase or contribution will not increase your chances of winning. The purpose of the Contest is to raise awareness about potential uses for ultra-high bandwidth technologies. To enter visit the Gigabit Genius Grant website at http://www.gigabitgeniusgrant.com. Enter by submitting an idea for using gigabit technology to improve your community. Then encourage your supporters to vote for your ideas. Grants will be awarded based on the number of votes given to an idea and the review of a panel of judges. Registration is free.
Entries must be received by PSL no later than June 30, 2010. Sponsor is not responsible for late, lost or misdirected entries or for telecommunications system, computer-software or hardware errors or data loss.
4. Prizes. A $1,000 Gigabit Popular Genius Grant will be awarded to the idea that gets the most votes between April 1, 2010 and April 30, 2010. Finalists for a $10,000 grand prize will be chosen from ideas submitted on or before June 30, 2010. These finalists will be chosen based on the number of votes they receive on the contest website. Finalists may then be asked to submit additional information about their ideas to a panel of expert judges. A grand prize of $10,000 will be awarded to one winner among the finalists as chosen by the panel of judges.
5. Selection of Winners. All submitted ideas will be posted on the Gigabit Genius Grant website. Finalists will be chosen by means of a public vote. Finalists may then be asked to submit additional information about their ideas to a panel of expert judges. The grand prize winner will be selected by a panel of experts chosen by PSL, who will judge entries on the basis of creativity, novelty, innovation and relevance to the Contest’s theme. The finalists and the grand prize winner will be announced on the PSL website.
Winners will be notified via a message on the Gigabit Genius Grant website. In order to receive a prize, a winner must provide PSL with his or her correct name, address, telephone number and email address within 14 days of being notified. Winners will be required to execute and return an affidavit of eligibility and publicity release and any required tax documents. Failure to return any of the required information or documents may result in the disqualification of a winner and the selection of another winner.
Submissions with content that is improper or inappropriate or which is copyrighted or otherwise restricted as to use will be immediately disqualified.
All submitted entries become the property of PSL. PSL may publish, use, copy and distribute the submitted entry (or a portion of the submitted entry, or any revised version of a submitted entry) by any means in any medium, now known or hereafter invented.
By accepting a prize, winners automatically grant to PSL the right to use their proper names, images, and likenesses without further permission or financial compensation for any promotional purposes unless prohibited by law.
6. Liability. Each entrant agrees to release PSL and its respective affiliates, agencies, officers, directors, employees and agents of any of the foregoing from any and all liability, claims or actions of any kind whatsoever for injuries, damages, or losses to person or property that may be sustained in connection with the entry or participation in the Contest. If for any reason the Contest is not capable of being conducted as described in these Official Rules, PSL shall have the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the Contest.
By entering the Contest, the entrant agrees that PSL its affiliates, advertising and promotional agencies, and the employees, officers, directors, and agents of any of the above organizations shall not be liable for any injury or damage to any person’s computer hardware, software, or peripherals utilized in participating in the Contest.
PSL reserves the right to disqualify any person it finds to be acting in violation of these Official Rules or to be acting in an un-sportsmanlike or disruptive manner, or with intent to annoy, abuse, threaten or harass any other person. CAUTION: ANY ATTEMPT BY A CONTESTANT OR ANY OTHER INDIVIDUAL TO DELIBERATELY DAMAGE ANY WEBSITE OR UNDERMINE THE LEGITIMATE OPERATION OF THE GIVEAWAY IS A VIOLATION OF CRIMINAL AND CIVIL LAWS AND SHOULD SUCH AN ATTEMPT BE MADE, PSL AND ITS AGENTS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO PROSECUTE SUCH PERSON AND/OR SEEK DAMAGES FROM ANY SUCH PERSON TO THE FULL EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW.
7. List of Winners. A list of all winners will be posted on http://www.gigabitgeniusgrant.com after July 15, 2010.
8. Legality. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws. Void where prohibited. By entering, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules and the decisions of PSL on all matters relating to the Contest, which are final and binding.
